Christmas on the Bay
Christmas in Tampa Bay does not always come with snowflakes, fireplaces, and heavy winter coats. Sometimes it arrives with palm trees wrapped in lights, boats glowing red and green across the water, warm Gulf breezes, and Santa trading his boots for flip-flops.
Christmas on the Bay is a tropical holiday celebration of everything that makes Christmas in Florida a little different. Steel drums replace sleigh bells, the grill is fired up instead of the fireplace, and family and friends gather outside beneath a warm December sky.
From Ybor City to Clearwater and all around Tampa Bay, the song blends familiar Christmas traditions with the unmistakable flavor of the Gulf Coast. There may not be frost on the windows, but there is still plenty of Christmas spirit.
“No winter coat, just a salty breeze
Merry Christmas from Tampa, down by the seas.”
At its heart, the song is not really about the weather at all. It is about gathering with the people we love, appreciating the blessings around us, and realizing that Christmas can feel magical whether the temperature is thirty degrees or seventy-five.
“No frost, no snow — still spirits high
Got love and peace beneath this sky.”
So pour something festive, turn up the steel drums, find a palm tree covered in Christmas lights, and enjoy a little sunshine with your holiday spirit.
Merry Christmas from Tampa Bay.
Christmas on the Bay
Verse 1
No snow fallin’, just the sunshine callin’
Palm trees glow where the lights are hangin’ tallin’
Santa traded sleigh bells for flip-flop feet
He’s cruisin’ down the causeway, feelin’ that heat.
Chorus
It’s Christmas on the Bay, feelin’ irie today
Got the rum punch flowin’ and the steel drums play
No winter coat, just a salty breeze
Merry Christmas from Tampa, down by the seas.
Verse 2
Boats all shimmer with red and green lights
Dolphins dancin’ in the Gulf tonight
Neighbors laughin’, kids runnin’ free
A tropical carol in harmony.
Bridge
From Ybor to Clearwater glowin’ bright
We’re singin’ “Silent Night” under moonlight
No frost, no snow — still spirits high
Got love and peace beneath this sky.
Chorus
It’s Christmas on the Bay, feelin’ irie today
Got the rum punch flowin’ and the steel drums play
No mistletoe, just a palm tree sway
It’s a sunshine Christmas down Tampa Bay.
Verse 3
Light up the grill, let the barbeque sizzle
With family and friends, we laugh and we twizzle
Catchin’ rays while we sip on the sun
In this holiday spirit, we’re all so young.
Hook
Raise a toast, here’s to fun in the sun,
From Tampa’s warm shores, let’s together be one,
Singin’ and dancin’ with our favorite crew,
Christmas here feels like a dream come true.
Outro
So raise your glass to the ones we love
From the beach to the heavens above
We give thanks for blessings that never stray,
Merry Christmas to all! It’s Christmas on the Bay.
